Some pieces start with the fundamentals. Others look at analytical methods, unusual materials, ongoing questions or the practical side of working with science.
You do not need to read anything in order. Start wherever something catches your attention.

CarbonMat is not meant to contain only one voice.
The Guest Series gives scientists and specialists a place to share their work, ideas and experiences, and to introduce subjects that may sit well beyond my own area of expertise.
If you have a topic, project or perspective you would like to share, contributions to the Guest Series are welcome.
Science at Work
Coal properties are shaped by rank, type and grade, and those differences influence how coal behaves during heating, deformation and processing.
Science at Work will explore these rheological properties, the analytical methods used to measure them, and what the results can tell us about the coal itself.

Poster Gallery
Scientific posters often have a very short public life: displayed at a conference, discussed for a few days, and then stored away.
The Poster Gallery gives them a little more time in the light, bringing together posters and other visual material from research projects, conferences and related work so they can continue to be seen, shared and explored.
If you have a poster you would like to give a longer life beyond the conference where it was presented, contributions to the Poster Gallery are welcome.
